January 12-16:  Teacher Recommendation Window

• Teachers have individual conversations with students and complete core recommendations during class time. 

January 22-30:  Window to Make All Other Selections

• Use your grade-level specific registration worksheets (found on your grade-level registration page) to help you plan your course requests.
• Complete requests for the following during this window (if they apply to you):
  • Electives and 1 alternate
  • Course Waiver request form for moving up or down in rigor level or if you are a raising 9th grader planning to take Health/PE through FVA over the summer.
  • IE2 form- 11th & 12th graders only
  • Applications for application courses
• Current EFH students can ask the EFH counselors registration questions in the Cafe from January 22nd-30th during their lunch period. 

January 27-29: Grade Level Q&A Sessions

Peer Facilitation

• Peer Facilitation is an application-only elective course. If accepted as a Peer Facilitator, you will work daily in our Specialized Instruction classrooms. In this role, you will provide assistance, structure, guidance, and friendship to students with developmental disabilities.
• This course offers a unique opportunity to build confidence as you navigate real-life situations and develop meaningful relationships with our incredible students and teachers. Because we have a limited number of Peer Facilitator positions available each period, it is essential that our facilitators are reliable, compassionate, and committed to making a positive impact within our school community.
• If you have any questions, please stop by Room 2761 and ask Ms Kendall Gruhn.

Internship Forsyth- Work-Based Learning

• Internship Forsyth is a structured experience that connects classroom learning to an engaging job opportunity.  An internship can be paid or unpaid.  Students are allowed to leave the school campus to intern with local businesses, earning course credit for the experience.

While the Course Waiver Request Form is available, we highly recommend taking courses recommended for you by your teachers. Should you feel you still need to use the Course Waiver Request Form, click below. Remember that these are requests and are not guaranteed and that, if granted, these requests are considered final course selections and cannot be changed after January 30th.

The Course Waiver Request Form can be used to request to waive down, up, or to request Health and PE should your Rising 9th Grader take that course over the summer.

11th-grade students can request 1 IE2 period.

12th-grade students can request up to 3 IE2 periods. Students participating in any GHSA Competition (athletes, band members, actors, e-sports participants) and students applying for social security benefits must take at least 5 courses their senior year for eligibility.  See detailed information in the IE2 Form.

Students must have their own transportation to or from school to have an IE2 period and are not allowed to remain on campus.

You still need to be fully requested with face-to-face classes during the registration window.

Online courses IN your EFHS schedule will be scheduled at the beginning or end of the day, and students will be required to take the course from home and provide their own transportation to or from school at the appropriate time. Please only choose an online course if you have appropriate transportation.

Online courses in your 7-period day will be through Forsyth Virtual Academy (FVA) unless FVA does not offer the course.

• To request an FVA course, you need to:

  •  Complete the FVA Student Application, which will be open on Jan. 26th.

• To request a GAVS course, you need to

  • Request the course on the GAVS Website (both A for the fall and B for the spring).

  • Complete the GAVS Intent to Participate Form (located in Infinite Campus Parent Portal under Documents/Forms)

Online Summer Courses

All students are encouraged to use their summer for healthy activities outside of school. If a student chooses to take a summer course, please remember:

• Taking online courses could have a direct impact on subsequent scheduling and sequence of courses for students all throughout high school.
• Students are not guaranteed the next course in the sequence if they take a summer course.
• Rising 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students may only earn 1 credit (1.0 or .5/.5).
• Rising 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students may only earn credits from FVA or GAVS.

Summer registration for FVA and GAVS courses opens in late February or early March.

CTAE Online Summer Courses

• Intro CTAE courses for rising 9th grade students: Students who take courses, like but not limited to, Intro to Software Tech or Marketing Principles, will not likely be offered the second year CTAE course as freshmen. Priority scheduling is to 10th-12th grade students in the pathway. Students cannot take AP Computer Science Principles at EFHS in 9th grade. 
• CTAE courses for rising 10th and 11th: Placement into the next sequence course in the pathway is not guaranteed. Students can not be added to the course until verification of successful completion in late summer. At this point many of the elective courses are full.

Math Online Summer Courses

• GAVS Geometry A: Students will be placed in Geometry A support in fall and receive the Geometry B credit after successful completion of Geometry B in the spring. Students will NOT be placed into Accel Adv. Algebra.
• Geometry AB (full course): Students will be placed in on-level Advanced Algebra (Algebra II), NOT Honors Adv. Algebra (Alg. II). Note: Honors Adv. Algebra (Alg. II) is required for AP Precalculus
• Advanced Algebra (Alg. II): Students will be placed in Precalculus NOT AP Pre-calculus.
• Other Math Courses: Must meet FCS requirements to advance; click here for requirements.

Science Online Summer Courses

• Chemistry or Other Science: GAVS/ FVA does not offer Honors Chemistry (or honors sciences in general), which is a pre-requisite courses to many of the AP Sciences. Rising 10th-grade students may not take Chemistry online over the summer in an attempt to double up as rising 10th-grade students or to add AP Sciences in 10th grade.

English Online Summer Courses

• Lit & Comp II (10th Lit): Students will be placed in American Lit, NOT AP Lang or AP Lit.
• Dual Enrollment Lit: Does not count as Lit & Comp II (10th Lit) and will not allow a student to move into AP Lang or AP Lit.

Social Studies Online Summer Courses

• Economics: Must be taken in 11th or 12th grade to count for graduation credit, only Personal Finance & Economics, AP Macroeconomics, AP Microeconomics, or DE Econ 1101 counts for graduation credit.

World Languages Online Summer Courses

• Students choosing to take World Languages courses over the summer might not be guaranteed the next level based on seat availability.  

It is not time yet to register for self-pay online courses outside of your schedule for the 26-27 school year. Registration for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 FVA and GAVS courses opens in early to mid-March.
